Our Organization
We are an association that builds bridges by connecting artists and engaged citizens of the world in Europe and Central Africa to deliver water access to vulnerable populations. What Water’s mission is to provide clean water to 8 million people by 2030, in support to the United Nations and their Sustainable Development Goals SDGs 6 “Clean Water and Sanitation” and 17 “Global Partnerships for Sustainable Development”.
Every day 800 million people wake up without access to clean water. They spend 200 million — daily — to walk to collect water. We created What Water to make people aware about the water crisis and to make an impact offering clean and sustainable water access.
Our Funding
What Water uses a universal language, art, to raise awareness on the water crisis. It benefits from being domiciled in an efficient and resourceful country, Luxembourg. It raises funds through multiple channels and Its size makes it nimble and able to reach the ground at record cost efficiency. Most importantly, What Water is actually on the ground operating in a direct model with limited intermediaries.

- Our second source of funding is raised through art sales. At such events we bring together artists from Africa and Europe into common exhibition space, providing an opportunity for humanitarian engagement by investing in art that leads to community action, all the while providing an opportunity for exposure to the artists. We launched our online sales platform to allow people worldwide to become art collector making a positive change.

50% of proceeds from art sales go directly to creating water solutions.
50% of the proceeds from art sales go to the artists for their creations.
The funds raised are used to participate in the effort to strengthen water systems on the ground in Central Africa.
Our Purpose
Water access is the root to rural economic growth. It has proven to revolutionize societies. We aim to establish local What Water chapters throughout Europe and Central Africa, allowing others to carry our mission. Our mission is to build water wells to provide safe and clean water to those who need it the most.
In September of 2022, What Water delivered some of its first water well and boreholes in rural areas of Cameroon, where women and children often walk for hours every day in search for the blue gold. Since, we learned and improved our impact. We are now building not only boreholdes, but also water towers and smart water towers to make our infrastructures the most efficient possible through our digital pilot project.
