Born in 1996 in Cameroon, Arnold FOKAM lives and works in Douala. He graduated in Visual Arts and History of Art at Nkongsamba Institute of Fine Arts. In 2020, he won the Goethe Discovery Visual Arts prize, in 2023 the Barthélémy TOGUO Art prize and the Discovery Prize of Les Ateliers SAHM in Brazzaville, the year he participated in the AKAA fair in Paris. To date, he has presented 3 SOLO SHOWs in Cameroon and his works are part of the collections of the GOETHE Institute Kamerun and the Contemporary Art Center Doual’art. His work, which explores painting, photography, sound creation and installation, has a powerful spiritual, cultural and ecological dimension. His research revolves around water in relationship with the body, offering an intimate dialogue, a symbiosis, between humans and aquatics. He is interested in the way history and ancestral beliefs can influent the way we look and approaches climate/environment emergency today.
